June 15th  – August 3rd  2013

Opening reception Saturday June 15th  from 2-5 pm. Mayor Hans Toft opens the exhibition.

“We are living in a society that needs dandelions. At the same time, there has never been as many market mechanisms trying to eliminate all the things that are not supposed to be here. Such as the dandelions.

Author Peter Øvig Knudsen’s two recent books on the remaining flower children of the hippie movement tell us that was then. Today we think about progress, wealth, monoculture and flat screen structure. And yet. The tours and detours of art have a tendency to stray, throw seeds and reach out for things, you do not know if you want to touch – or be touched by. Just like the dandelion that breaks through the asphalt every spring. It is impossible to kill. Despite everything, the dandelion is a survivor.

Huskegruppen has invited a number of visual artists, authors, debaters and theatre personalities to contribute to the Dandelion Project. Each one has taken a position, which challenges the normality and our view on body, gender, ethnicity, affiliation and power. In the Dandelion Project artists from different grounds and nationalities will create a platform for exchanging culture, history and experience – between players and audience. In the project there is a span of generations: the oldest is born in 1940, the youngest in 1983 and six different nationalities are represented.

The dandelions have begun to bloom. In imaginable and unimaginable ways. Luckily, you might say”.

Huskegruppen consists of the visual artist Peter Brandt and the author, dramatist and visual artist Tomas Lagermand Lundme. Since 2004 they have created interdisciplinary projects in museums, galleries, churches and institutions.
